Nassim Dahman is leaving SC Freiburg's eFootball division. The player considered one of the world's best eFootballers and his coach David Queck are ending their time at the club, as reported by Kicker this week.
The departures mark a significant upheaval for the Bundesliga club's eSports branch. The first team finished the 2025 season in eighth place with 40 points. With 42 goals scored and 47 conceded, the squad had a negative goal difference of minus five. The next task for the professionals is the home match against Werder Bremen on 30 August 2026.
Who is leaving SC Freiburg?
Nassim Dahman joined Freiburg from SV Darmstadt 98 for the 2025/26 season and was regarded as a major talent at the time. His development was exceptional. He reached, among other achievements, the top eight of the FC Pro Open and the eChampions League. At the FC Pro World Championship, he made it to the semi-finals and ultimately finished in fourth place. His greatest success was winning the German championship trophy at the Virtual Bundesliga Grand Final.
David Queck moved from SV Sandhausen to SC Freiburg in 2023 as the club's first-ever eFootball signing. He started as a player-coach but focused completely on his coaching role in the past season. His departure marks the end of an era. Gianluca Mautone had already ended his career some weeks prior.
What did the club say about the departures?
Konstantin Sarantidis, SC Freiburg's eSports coordinator, praised Dahman's achievements. "Nassim joined the Sport-Club as a VBL rookie and is now leaving the club as one of the best eFootballers in the world," said Sarantidis. The club plans to inform about the complete new composition of the eFootball squad soon.
The player himself also looked back positively on his time. "The personal development I was able to experience here and the successes we were able to celebrate as a team last year were extraordinary," stated Nassim Dahman. The new clubs for both departures are not yet known.
What is SC Freiburg's current situation?
While the eSports division is being restructured, the first team is preparing for the start of the season. Last season's record shows 11 wins, 7 draws, and 11 losses from 29 games. The recent form reads WLWLD. In the title race, they finished 36 points behind champions Bayern Munich.
Currently sidelined due to injury are Florent Muslija, Patrick Osterhage, and Rihito Yamamoto. An overview of the squad and absences is available on our squad page. The complete planning for the upcoming season can be viewed in our fixtures overview.
What does this mean for the future?
The double departure presents a challenge for SC Freiburg's eSports organization. The task is to build a new competitive team around the remaining players. Finding adequate replacements for world-class level like Dahman's will not be easy. For the professionals, the focus is clearly on the first home match. A win against Bremen would be an important signal for the new campaign. The current table situation can be followed on our standings page.
