A triumph in this competition would not only mean the first international title for the club but also bring significant financial benefits. Reaching the final on May 20 in Istanbul could provide the club with at least seven million euros in additional revenue. Freiburg's financial director, Oliver Leki, has already criticized the distribution of funds by UEFA and is calling for a redistribution to improve competitive conditions. So far, SC Freiburg has earned around 33 million euros in the current Europa League season. This amount consists of start fees and performance-related bonuses. With a potential title win, an additional ten million euros could be added. In the best-case scenario, the club could thus earn a total of 43 million euros. If SC Freiburg wins the Europa League, it would also secure participation in the Champions League next season, which would bring additional revenue of about 18.6 million euros. Alternatively, the current seventh-placed team in the Bundesliga also has the chance to qualify for the Europa League or Conference League through the league.
