As goalkeeper Florian Müller saved the last penalty in the 5:4 win of SC Freiburg against Hertha BSC, Julian Schuster was on the sidelines and all the pressure was off. With tears in his eyes, the 40-year-old enjoyed the relieving moment after a night that had clearly challenged the former midfielder. "The game has shown everything that a cup night can then also make up for", said Schuster in the Sportschau interview, after taking a deep breath. "Pure emotions, a penalty shootout is quite hard as a coach." ## SC Freiburg: Schuster proud of his team The SC coach felt a "giant joy over what the team has achieved again today". Schuster was also very happy for the fans of the Bundesliga club, who cheered the team just as loudly and numerous throughout the entire game in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. That the actual number two Florian Müller had become the matchwinner, made the evening for Schuster completely perfect: "You can only achieve this if you always stay and have this focus and mentally fully immerse yourself in your role. That's already special and I'm very happy for Flo." ### Penalty thriller in Berlin From draw to cup hero: SC Freiburg celebrates "Trashtalker" Florian Müller Florian Müller has become the matchwinner in the DFB-Pokal quarterfinals against Hertha BSC. The actual number two of SC Freiburg shows an outstanding performance. "I am very proud to be able to train this team", Schuster began a hymn of praise for his team. "These are really special characters. I demand a lot. But this effort they put in and that they fully immerse themselves in it, to become better and develop themselves: (...) That's already a very big achievement." ## Freiburg hopes for second final With the entry into the semifinals, the Breisgauers have also overcome the penalty trauma of Berlin. Four years ago, the Sport-Club was in the final of the DFB-Pokal for the first time and lost to RB Leipzig in a penalty shootout. Now the Freiburgers have the chance to enter the final for the second time. Alongside the Sport-Club, VfB Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen are in the quarterfinals. On Wednesday, FC Bayern and RB Leipzig will determine the last semifinalist. The semifinals will be drawn on February 22 in the ZDF and played on April 21/22. The final in Berlin will take place on May 23. ## SC Freiburg travels to Hoffenheim For the Freiburgers, this sets a strong season once again. In the Bundesliga, the Breisgauers are still in the vicinity of the European Cup places after the 1:0 win against Werder Bremen last weekend. And in the Europa League, Freiburg has entered the quarterfinals directly after a sovereign league phase. In short: Schuster has every reason to be proud of his team. Time to catch their breath is scarce, however. The next big challenge is already waiting for the Sport-Club on Saturday. Then Freiburg will face TSG Hoffenheim at 15:30 in the Baden-Württemberg derby.
